Artisans and Joan Llorenç knife, we are father and son. Joan, a mechanic by trade, hunting enthusiast and cutlery. Llorenç the main architect of the knives we make, was born in Olot in 1974. I learn quickly from my father's hobbies was already hunting knives and friends. Once I finish my studies in fine arts, drawing and painting, went to work for 3 years in an industrial engineering firm, where I learn to work the steel. In 1992 we travel to Thiers and Paris to see the exhibition of knives that are celebrate there, I was so pleasantly surprised that in 1994 it set up with my father a small workshop in Riudaura (Girona) and since then we knives .
All knives are completely handmade, from the design, we do thinking about the use and the aesthetic to the finish and the cover. The blade is always elaborate, high-quality steels. From Bohler home or Bonpertuis.
We use steel as the 440C, the ATS34, D2 stainless steels that are of best quality. We also use stainless steel damask Damasteel. And as for carbon steels used the O1, or XC75 XC100, we also manufacture carbon damask.
These steels heat-treated well with a good sharp blades make a shaving cut. We work as rough forging or at grinding. To work them do better in forging carbon steel because it can shape and twist better than the 440C that also forge, although it is difficult and has more technical limitations.
We also work for grinding, polishing with the band (an essential tool for every craftsman) above the 440C, D2, ATS34 and stainless steel Damascus for more pieces of quality and luxury. But all are handmade one by one and you can choose the finish, for example a specific decorated spine or any material on the handle ...
For use handles all types of natural and noble materials such as Asian water buffalo horn, deer antler, facochero tusk, ivory, and all types of wood such as heather root, olive, Macassar ebony, iron wood, rosewood, palo saint of Madagascar and stabilized woods negundo root and root of poplar.
Handles can be made whole (because the blade is tang) or handle (because the blade is one piece) and use leather covers embossed by hand and adapted to each knife in the wet. To sew typically use goatskin and sewn with different bent or twisted waxed thread. We hope you like our knives, we all feel like they are well finished, with good materials and also to suit the client if it is in order.
Accepted designs of our customers and we revise if it is necessary.
